another log on the fire

throw another log on the fire. and crank up the tunes. i’m listening to the drive by truckers. it’s a night for rockin. but not like partying. just a night for rockin. my roomate just came home and told me a killer story about t he track behind our apartment. we live by the railroad. and it’s fun to go play on he trains sometimes. i’ve kind of outgrown that a bit but it’s still fun to hear the stories.
tonight i went to dave’s and and we hung out with his brother, paul. i think that tonight i’ve heard paul talk more than i’ve ever heard him talk before. he’s a really nice guy. it was fun to sit in the backyard with a fire, beers and whiskey.
it was nice to hang out with dave because we haven’t done as much together lately. not his fault and not my fault, no one’s fault really. he’s living with an ex of mine but it is only an ex of like a month. still, it made things weird for a little while i guess. now though, things are pretty back to normal. i’m glad for that. dave’s been a friend of mine for a long time and i’d hate to think that something like that would come between us. to be honest, we’ve dealt with shit like this in the past. it’s really nothing new. he’s a good guy. kind of more like family at this stage than a friend. in fact, i’d think it’s wierder for his gf than for either of us.
now i’m talking to my friend jami. i work with her, she’s a nice girl. i don’t think she gives herself enough credit. seems that way with a lot of people. they just don’t realize the wonderful people that they are. it’s sad, but what can you do? you can only tell someone so often that they’re wonderful before you start sounding like a total moron.
whoa! the rain just started outside. i think i’ll go off and listen to it. i love a good rain storm. the sound and the smell is like nothing else. i wish everyone a good night!
