in which everything works out

i met a guy at a wedding last weekend and he and discussed our theory that everything works out. in the end, it all works okay and really there’s no need to worry. sure there are exceptions but on the whole it works. i see supporting evidence everyday.
take today for example. it would have been hard to start the day crappier. my cat woke me up early again with her whining for food. damn, she gets hungry. it’s 80 degrees with a 68 degree dew point at 5:30 am. on my drive into the city something fell off my car and flew away in my rearview mirror as i went over a particularly bad pothole. i got all the way into the city before realizing i had forgotten my name badge and the office with the temps wouldn’t be open for another hour. so, i went home and got it. instead of being to work an hour early, i got here on time but have to finish a report before i teach all day. whew.
once i parked though, it all started moving back the other way, turning around. it’s hot sure but you know what? it feels pretty good to this minnesota boy. it’s summer, sweet. i listened to uncle tupelo on my walk in to the office and started to mellow. i decided i deserved a nice cup of coffee and the cute girl at dunn was all smiles and flirty with me. now, i’m taken and all but it’s still nice when a cute girl is flirty. then, at the office, i met a nice woman in the elevator and we had the obligatory minnesota coversation about the weather but when she wished me a good day, she meant it. and i meant it too when i wished her one.
so, even a day that starts so crappy can be good again, in a matter of 20 minutes. everything does indeed work out.
