normally i tend to drive pretty fast. i’m usually in a hurry or at least feel like i don’t have any time to waste. i’d say that my normaly speed on the freeway is 70mph and on side roads like 35-40mph. i have a nice little ‘95 honda civic coupe. it’s a good little car with quite a bit of get up and go for having such a little engine. i normally get around 31-32mpg which, with rising gas costs, the health of the planet and whatnot, is pretty good.
a few weeks ago, i decided i should be doing a better job with my gas consumption. i know it’s just a little thing but if we all did the little things, they’d become big things. so no i drive 55-60mph on the freeway and 30mph on side roads. i don’t accelerate quickly anymore either. my mileage has jumped up to 37-39mpg. thirty-nine miles per gallon! it’s not diesel or bio-diesel, it’s not a hybrid, just a well designed little car that is finally being driven better.
