family page

i put up a family page this morning. there’s nothing really there just yet but eventually it’ll host files related to my family history project. i think i’ll also post stories as i type them up to my blog using the “family” category. if you’re not interested, you can skip them but for me, the more i learn about history, the more fascinating it becomes and that’s even more so for the history that relates to me. i mean, isn’t it interesting that my family discovered niagara caves by literally falling right in while chasing a pig? okay, that story is unconfirmed right now but that’s part of the project to collect these stories and confirm them where i can.
if any of you are interested in genealogy, a friend of mine recommended this software and i’ve found it to be helpful:
geditcom
it uses the gedcom standard for genealogy files. it was developed by the mormons but it works pretty well as far as i can tell. and just to be clear. . . i’m not mormon nor do i intend to become one.
