so tired . . ., originally uploaded by kregarious.
wow, i was so tired last night. i haven’t been sleeping enough lately. not because i’ve slept poorly so much as there just hasn’t been time. too much going on. i liked the reflection in this lamp. as you can see, using my iphone for the photo so quality suffered somewhat. oh well, still a fun image.
in other news, this is now where i get my local weather forecast.
Dude Weather
so, i never did get to writing that customer service article the other day. here are a few thoughts.
- we own a saturn and keep going back to the dealership because they provide excellent service. i’m not picky about things being perfect, but i do like the personal touch. recently i brought in the car for some brake work and it ended up taking longer than it should have so they gave me a loaner car for the day and took a bunch off the top of the bill. probably didn’t cost them too much but it went a long way towards making me feel better. good job saturn.
- my kindle screen died a few weeks ago. amazon sent me a new one the next day. the next day. that’s great customer service.
- since then however, the replacement hasn’t worked. the first guy i talked to told me they tweaked some of the settings on their end and fixed it. two days later, the second guy said the first guy wasn’t telling the truth and they couldn’t do that from there end. he started a trouble ticket and said he’d get back to me. a week later when he hadn’t gotten back to me, i called back and talked to a woman there who said that the ticket was out there but they weren’t clear yet on if they would have to send me a new one or could fix it in software. she said she’d call me back the next day. she did not. so, the replacement service at amazon is awesome. the troubleshooting is very terrible.
- becky and i have stayed at our fair share of hotels. sometimes we stay at fairly nice ones and other times we stay at budget places. what we’ve found is that the budget places provide the service we really need. they have a small fridge, a microwave and free wireless in the rooms. it’s all inclusive. the spendy places charge for all of that and already cost way more. maybe it’s to pay for the gym, pool and spa that i almost never use anyway.
- there is a caribou coffee at work that serves only our company. (it is the highest grossing caribou in the state, i’m told). they have the best service. sure, it’s a chain but those people are friendly in the morning without being saccharine. i wonder if they send some of their best people there because it’s high profile and a high earner. how they treat people though is something i’ve noticed and it makes a difference i think.
well, that’s it for me, i’m out. hope everyone is having a good weekend.
