Pet peeve

Here’s a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when someone means “I understand what you’re saying” and instead says “understand.” I’ve witnessed it as “I agree with what you’re telling me” becoming simply “agree.” how hard is it to add enough words to form a complete sentence?
